One of our lab groups has submitted a paper for publication. The paper can be found here. In it, our group, consisting of Michael Harp, Eli Jackson, Dave Jensen, and Noah Speeter, defines a new graph invariant called the scramble number. This invariant is a useful tool because it is a lower bound for another invariant, the gonality, which is of interest in algebraic geometry.
